Its design takes advantage of all its interior cabin space, and it has one of the most versatile seat configurations in its class. Honda has coined the HR-V's rear seats as "Magic Seats" due to their multiple folding positions. The HR-V also boasts an expansive front view from the driver's seat, allowing for maximum visibility. And finally, the HR-V offers excellent steering and is perfectly suited for urban driving through crowded streets and in tighter parking spots. The HR-V has so much to offer, so keep reading to learn more!

Under the HR-V's Hood

The powertrain in the 2017 Honda HR-V consists of a 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine, a six-speed manual transmission, and front-wheel drive. All-wheel drive is also optional across the board. There are three trims, the LX, EX and EX-L Navi. A continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT) is available as an option on the LX and EX, while the CVT comes standard on the EX-L Navi. All four-wheel drive HR-Vs also come with the CVT.

Design of Honda HR-V

As mentioned earlier, the seat configuration in the HR-V is extremely versatile. The Magic Seats are found in the rear, and their seat cushions can be flipped up to allow for tall, narrow cargo items behind the front seats. Conversely, the rear seats can be folded down extremely low, creating a flat cargo space continuous to the rear. With the 60/40 split folding capability of the rear seats, you can also seat a passenger in the rear and carry a long snowboard and additional gear. The cargo capacity measures at 58.8 cubic feet with the rear seats folded flat and 24.3 cubic feet behind the rear seats. As for passenger capacity, the Honda HR-V can seat a maximum of five passengers, and space is surprisingly roomy for rear passengers. The LX trim boasts numerous standard features such as a rearview camera, a 5-inch display screen, Bluetooth, power controls, A/C, and cruise control, just to name a few. The EX adds enhancements such as a sunroof, foglights, keyless entry, an upgraded stereo, HondaLink's smartphone apps and integration, a 7-inch touchscreen, and more. Finally, the high-end EX-L Navi includes leather seating, navigation, roof rails, satellite radio, and more.

Conclusions

Honda is concerned about your safety, and therefore has added numerous standard safety features in the HR-V. Some of these include anti-lock brakes, brake assist, a vehicle stability control system, daytime running lights, a rearview camera, and more.  If you choose the EX or EX-L trims, several additional safety features are included, such as a wide-angle view from the rearview camera, along with Honda's LaneWatch system. LaneWatch is similar to a blind-spot monitoring system, but instead it uses a right-side camera that gives the driver a view of the side of the vehicle all the way to the street level.
